Keep It Safe Project
The “Keep it Safe” (KIS) Project aims to improve the wellbeing of youth in St George by coordinating a team of youth Peer Educators who talk to other young people about health issues such as sexual health and alcohol and other drug use.
The KIS team visit a range of areas including bus and train stations, parks and beaches, as well as shopping centres and community events such as Youth Week and Drug Action Week.
They use a range of interactive activities including quizzes and competitions to educate about issues such as the risks associated with alcohol and other drugs, and the importance of sexual health screens.
The KIS team also provide information about the range of services available to support young people. Health pamphlets and information cards are also available and are given out in Youth Health Packs.
The KIS Project is coordinated by St George Youth Services and is funded by South East Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service HIV/AIDS and Related Programs Unit.
For more information about the project and its activities please contact Jess Santos, KIS Project Officer on 9570 9465 or ready@stgeorgeyouth.org
