ST GEORGE YOUTH SERVICES

HEALTH & GLYSSN PROJECT

** The UpZone Youth Health Clinic: READY assisted with establishing The UpZone Youth Health Clinic in Hurstville. "The UZ" Clinic operates on Wednesdays & Thursdays and has a GP, counselling, sexual health, drug & alcohol and mental health services for young people up to 25 yrs. These health services are all under one roof, after school hours, confidential & FREE!

** Health Peer Education Project

The Peer Education project has recruited young people who are trained in health issues. Peer Educators go out to events, festivals, in the community (anywhere where young people hang out) and provide information to their peers on sexual health and related issues such as alcohol& Other drugs. Young people say they learn best from others their own age.

**GLYSSN (Gay & Lesbian Youth Social Support Network)

GLYSSN is social group for same-sex attracted & gender diverse young people under 25. GLYSSN is aimed at people living in Sydney's south or any young person who has connections in the area. GLYSSN provides a safe and non-judgmental place to make friends, and learn new things.

Visit the GLYSSN website

Here's what young people say why they come to GLYSSN:

"to understand and accept myself by seeing others just like me"

"to feel like I belong, to feel like I am not strange for being the way I am"

"to not feel so bloody isolated!"

"it's a positive environment for young gay, lesbian and bisexual people...
If I had found out about it so much earlier, my life probably would have been different"

The GLYSSN project has been running for many years. GLYSSN is supported by South East Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service.
