Better Futures

St George Youth Services has just finished running a local project in St George as part of the NSW government's Better Futures South East Sydney Regional Plan.

Better Futures is finalising developing a protocol 'Good Practice Guidelines' for cooperation between local high schools and non-goverment youth services. The project has also just completed a research into the needs of after school hours activities for young people aged 9-14.

Another element of the Better Futures project, for which St George Youth Services is the auspice body, is the regional Youth Participation Project, which aims to improve opportunities for local young people to play a role in their communities and the services they use. 28 Youth Leaders were recruited and trained in Youth Leadership, and facilitated workshops with adults and services. They are now available to assist with group facilitation and projects in the South East Region.
