Who are we?

St George Youth Workers Network is an interagency for services who work with young people in the St George region of Sydney. Network meetings occur monthly.

Until recently Network was an incorporated association funded to offer a range of youth services in St George, as well as some projects which cover the Sutherland Shire. In November 2005, the association changed its name to St George Youth Services, which continues to provide these funded projects. SYS will also continue to support the network interagency as another 'project'.

Members of the Youth Network includes representatives of all levels of government and the non-government sector. Network has developed several ongoing objectives which determine its strategic direction.

These are, broadly:

  • to improve coordination and cooperation between youth service providers in St George;
  • to identify the needs of young people and youth services in St George;
  • to promote the provision of appropriate, accessible and quality services to meet identified needs;
  • to facilitate professional development and support for youth services in St George through networking, training and resources;
  • to respond to policy, economic and funding changes which impact on young people and youth services in St George.
